My wife kindly honored my request for a photo in the style of the meme ‘Women Laughing Alone With Salad‘. So naturally, I set it as my head unit’s startup screen.
Here’s how to do it. Get yourself a USB thumb drive, and create two folders in the root: StartupImage and DisplayOffImage. Spelling and case matter, and if they aren’t exact, the system won’t find them. Allegedly, the Entune radio supports both a startup image and a shutdown image. I’ve never gotten my shutdown image to show, so YMMV.
Select photos that are 10MB or less in size. The file extension must be JPG or JPEG. The system will download up to three files. 910×480 (920×480) size works well without adding black bands to either the top/bottom or sides. You can go larger and the system will automatically shrink to fit, just try to keep those proportions.
Start the vehicle (or turn on the ignition), then plug your USB drive in. Go into radio settings, general, and find ‘Customize Startup Image’ and ‘Customize Screen Off Image’. Select the option of your choice, and hit the Transfer button, then Yes. You can also switch images to change it up every once in a while.
