I’d been comparing the features and functions of various dash cams, and finally settled on the Vantrue E2. It’s got GPS, Wifi, Voice Control and if you hard-wire it, a motion detecting parking mode too. It will detect collisions, and comes with a little remote button you can use to capture snapshots. There is a voltage limiter on the hard-wire kit that prevents your battery getting run down too much.
I don’t really like things blocking the view of my windshield, so I opted to mount it directly behind the rear view mirror. I can’t really see the LCD screen from where I sit, but with the ability to control the camera with my phone over wifi that wasn’t very important to me. The mount affixes to the windshield by an adhesive pad, and the camera connects on the mount magnetically. Power runs to a USB-C port on the mount, not the camera, so it would be possible to use the same camera in other vehicles.
